Designed for the Salon of her Villa E1027, the Centimetre Rug highlights the number 10 with a mysterious code – a nod to the tenth letter of the alphabet: J for Jean Badovici, with whom she designed the Villa Maison au Bord de Mer E1027. Numerals and icons – such as fragmentary elements of everyday objects – can be found in Eileen Gray’s rug designs of the later 1920s.
