Liebherr

The history of the Liebherr brand goes back to the post-war period, when Hans Liebherr managed his parents' construction company in southern Germany. He saw a need for tools and machines in the construction and domestic industries. In 1949, together with designers and craftsmen, he developed the first self-propelled slewing tower crane. It was the first product of the Hans Liebherr Maschinenfabrik engineering company, founded in Kirchdorf in 1949. With subsequent models, crane production at Liebherr gained momentum, and the construction company transformed into a manufacturer of construction machines. In 1954, the company introduced a light hydraulic excavator to its product range. In the 1950s, Hans Liebherr saw potential in the household appliance industry. So he built his own production plant in Ochsenhausen in southern Germany. In 1954, the first refrigerator was manufactured there, and series production began just one year later. In 1956, the range of construction machines was expanded to include machines for the production and transport of concrete, which Liebherr began building in Bad Schussenried from that point on. At the end of the 1950s, Hans Liebherr also became involved in the development of aviation technology. The price applies to a built-in refrigerator.
