What makes Ingo Maurer stand out?
Ingo Maurer began designing unique lamps, lighting systems and unusual objects in the mid-1960s. For over four decades of work, Ingo Maurer and the Team - as he referred to his collaborators - have been constantly developing. In addition to the permanent, unique collection, Ingo Mauer also creates artistic installations, lighting objects and space arrangements.
Manual production is an integral part of the company's philosophy, which also cooperates closely with local craftsmen.
Thanks to his original lighting creations Ingo Maurer is called the "poet of light". Visionary settings and admiration for technologies and the world meant that he created exciting works of art from the simplest elements, not limiting himself to one type of style and constantly experimenting. A great example of the admiration for a simple everyday object - the light bulb - is the Bulb lamp, designed in 1969, which was included in the exhibition organized by the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. It is still produced today, and the collection also includes new versions like the B.Bulb powered by a battery and charged via USB.
Bird feathers were also a common motif in Maurer's designs, e.g. the Birdie chandelier or the Luccelino lamp.
Ingo Maurer died in October 2019, leaving an extraordinary legacy and a well-established on the global design market brand bearing his name.
