What makes Jieldé stand out?
The history of Jieldé begins in 1950, when Jean-Louis Domecq, a mechanic living in Lyon, tired of looking for a lamp that would successfully illuminate his workplace, decided to create his own. The idea was to create solid lighting with the simplest possible structure. The lamp he made in its final shape became an international success due to the unusual solutions used. The electricity in the Domecq lamp is transported through the lamp joints, without the need to use wires. The electrical circuit ends with a pair of copper plates, which allows the lamp arms to be rotated without restrictions.
Soon, Domecq industrialized the production of his lamp, and in 1953 he opened the now iconic company. The brand name is a phonetic version of the initials JLD.
Jean-Louis Domecq died in 1983, and his heirs expanded the collection, starting with the Standard model, which evolved towards floor lamps, reading lamps and wall lamps. The iconic, historic Jieldé lamp has been renamed Jieldé Loft. Many variants have also been created to meet the demands of today's world.
Jieldé today means lamps in a fashionable industrial style, giving the interior a graceful feel, reminiscent of old industrial factories, and highly practical, durable and functional fixtures. They are invariably made by hand and numbered, which gives them additional uniqueness.
